

ABOUT

Phoebe has worked in disability support services for more than 20 years in a variety of settings, including schools, 24-hour supported residences, day programs, community-based services, and supported employment services, supporting people with disabilities and their families. Phoebe has held many roles: direct support professional, job coach, employment specialist, director of day program, director of supported employment division (I/DD & MH), staff trainer, and agency consultant.

Over the years, Phoebe has learned from thought leaders in human services who have helped shape her approach to this work. Phoebe’s core values lie in the belief that all people deserve to contribute to others, have friendships, have meaningful careers, and receive the good things in life. Phoebe has studied person centered planning techniques and has facilitated many Design Sessions in her style, tailored for the person at the center, over the years.

Phoebe has presented nationally and internationally at conferences and symposiums on the significance of competitive employment and community inclusion for people with disabilities, as well as wellness for support professionals. Phoebe is the Coordinator of the Statewide Massachusetts Direct Support Professionals Conference, held biennially.
As someone with lived experience with PTSD and who manages lifelong chronic pain conditions, Phoebe has a deeply personal commitment to this work. A graduate of Kabat-Zinn's Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Phoebe integrates her knowledge of mindfulness into workshops designed for support workers, people with disabilities, and their families.
